  1. How do you define success in your role? Success for me is making sure I’m gaining as much knowledge as I can, ensuring my impact has a positive outcome that effectively contributes to the entire team.
  2. What’s your go-to productivity or motivation tip? I have more than one – it takes more than one for me. Always be open to learning. Don’t be afraid to stand out - you may not make a difference today, but there’s always tomorrow. Work hard no matter what and laugh at yourself. Always find humor – it makes life a little easier.
  3. What’s the most rewarding project or accomplishment in your career so far? Earning a bachelor’s degree is certainly at the top. For me, life started with so many challenges that continued through adulthood. The road to success didn’t seem reachable. So, to work hard and earn something no one can take away is the best reward anyone can receive.
  4. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Anywhere tropical where the sun is shining, the water is warm and there’s no choice but to relax. Spending time at the beach, enjoying the ocean breeze is the perfect way to unplug, recharge and truly reflect on what’s important.
  5. How do you approach building strong relationships with vendors or suppliers? Communication is key. Make sure expectations, goals and full transparency are priority. Being open to constructive feedback is also an effective approach to building a good relationship.
  6. What’s one fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I taught myself how to crochet; well, with the help of YouTube. Someone tried to teach me years ago. However, I’m left-handed so my brain rejected all of their instructions, lol. I still have a lot to learn but I’m having fun trying new patterns. Just please don’t ask me what some of the stitches mean – at least not yet.
  7. If you could have dinner with anyone (living or historical), who would it be and why? I would love to have dinner with Jesus because, why not? I have so many questions about life in general and about loved ones who have passed away; and those prayers we pray that we think aren’t being answered – I’d ask Him about that!

The North Florida Procurement Association (NFPA) Chapter of NIGP (National Institute of Government Purchasing) was founded April 2005 as the 87th NIGP chapter with 105 charter members and continues to remain a steady influence in the public-purchasing profession. Chapter membership is comprised of public agency procurement staff from across the northeast Florida region.
